1996

Eastern Automation (formerly Eastern Pneumatics) was founded by Craig Medhurst to service the mining industry, specialising in the automation of industrial valves for mineral processing plants.

Early projects delivered turnkey solutions to mines across Western Australia and Queensland, with cylinders and valving manufactured in-house in Bayswater, Victoria.

2000

Driven by continued growth, Eastern Automation expanded its Melbourne operations to include hydraulic cylinder repair services, supported by manufacturing capabilities at our Chinese facility.

Mid 2000

Hydraulic cylinder manufacturing became Eastern Automation’s core specialty. We commenced exporting hydraulic cylinders from our Chinese manufacturing plant to Australia and the Middle East.

2010

Eastern Automation further expanded global exports into Europe, supplying customers across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Australia. This growth established us as one of Australia’s largest exporters of hydraulic equipment for the construction industry.

During this period, we also began manufacturing hydraulic cylinders nationally for other hydraulic companies, providing high-quality, cost‑effective OEM replacement cylinders supported by strong QA and manufacturing efficiencies.

2019

Eastern Automation was acquired by HIFraser Group.

HIFraser Group design, source, procure, build, sustain and certify Australia’s most advanced Safety Critical, Habitability & Renewable Energy Systems across a range of national-critical industries including Defence, mining, oil & gas, hydrogen, commercial building and transport.
